Omax WaterJet will be exhibiting at the 2011 FABTECH Show. FABTECH is North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, finishing and welding event.

Ganesh Machinery’s new Cyclone 32-GT three-axis CNC lathe features a heavily ribbed cast iron construction designed to dampen cutting vibration for improved productivity, surface finish and tool life. This 1¼” bar diameter CNC lathe comes with many standard features including:

ThomasNet is the world’s largest sourcing destination for industrial buyers & engineers. A free listing is available but the ThomasNet editors decide your category listing. A paid

The amount you pay for a listing in a selected category is decided by what
other companies are paying. Category positioning is similar to Google Adwords.
Inbound links are included with a paid listing resulting in quality SEO link
juice.

2. MacRaes BlueBook

MacRaes Blue Book is very similar to ThomasNet. Based in Canada, this
searchable online directory serves 85% US and 15% Canadian industrial BtoB
companies. Potential buyers can link to your website directly, call you or
request a quote.

3. Zycon

Zycon is an online source for technical buyers, purchasing agents, and
engineers to locate manufacturing companies. Free listings can take months and
will expire after a year. Yearly, Platinum, Gold & Silver listings decide
your category rank. Platinum listings will cost the most but rank you higher
resulting in more website traffic and online quotes. The Logo program is a less
expensive option which gives you 20 product listings and an inbound link to
your website.

4. Manta

If your company is not already listed with this directory, you can get
listed for free. A premium listing will cost $125/year resulting in more
traffic since your listing is moved to the top of the product categories and is
viewed without the Google ads.

5. IQS Directory

IQS is a directory of industrial supply, manufacturers, purchasing, services
and components. It includes a Metal Process section for browsers who need
quotes ranging from CNC milling, die casting, EDMing to water jet machining.
For a fee, your machine shop can get listed in this directory.

6. Kelly Search

Kelly Search is a business to business supplier search engine that brings
buyers and sellers together. Free and paid advertisements are available.

7. Jobshop.com

JobShop.com is a paid online directory.  The site website connects
buyers of custom contract manufactured parts with job shops who produces these
parts.

8. SuperPages.com

Super Pages is the online version of the old Yellow Pages phone book. There
is a free listing but a paid listing sends you to the front of the line
resulting in more traffic. For example, Super Pages can tell you how many
monthly searches were made (on SuperPages.com) for machine shops in a particular
city or county. For $99/month and 1 year subscription, your company listing can
show up in selected categories. Select up to 5 cities or 1 county.

9. GlobalSpec.com

GlobalSpec is a search engine and information resource for the engineering,
industrial and technical communities. The site helps engineers find industrial
parts. As a job shop you can submit a free listing at http://www.globalspec.com/submit-site

10. MFG.com

MFG.com is not a directory, nor a search engine but a website that connects
buyers with suppliers of manufacturing services. MFG.com supports over 300
manufacturing categories including machining, fabrication, molding, casting,
extrusions, forging, metal stamping and contract manufacturing of electronic
components. If an item needs to be manufactured, it can be sourced through
MFG.com. If you’re a manufacturing shop that does outside work it may be worth subscribing to MFG.com

11. eMachineShop.com

eMachineShop is a site which any company or individual can design, price,
and instantly order custom mechanical parts. eMachineShop is also seeking

East Hartford, CT: Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) announced today the expansion of their Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) to include a state of the art Machining Applications Laboratory (MAL). The announcement was marked with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held at CCAT’s AMC facilities in East Hartford, CT.

The AMC is an environment, equipment and resources, to evaluate new technologies, prove them out, and seamlessly transfer the process to production. The AMC allows for development and improvement of manufacturing processes without impacting on-going production. This capability helps manufacturers continually improve their competitiveness without risking production disruption. CCAT’s services were initially subsidized by a government grant, but are today paid for by commercial customers.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony featured a reception and guided tours of the AMC facilities. Making remarks at the ceremony were Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Congressman John Larson, Congressman Joe Courtney, Congressman Chris Murphy, Mayor Marcia Leclerc, Richard Baxter, Chairman, CCAT Board of Directors, and Elliot A. Ginsberg, President & CEO of CCAT.

“I am pleased to join our Congressional and State leaders here at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology to celebrate the expansion of the Advanced Manufacturing Center,” said Governor Malloy. “High-tech precision manufacturing is an important part of the state’s economic future and the Advanced Manufacturing Center will be a tremendous asset to the industry. The new labs housed here will help Connecticut’s manufacturers and aid the industry as they broaden and grow their operations in the state.”

“I am a lifelong resident of East Hartford, my Dad worked at Pratt & Whitney for 37 years and when I taught school here I used to take children on tours of Pratt & Whitney,” Congressman Larson said. “It was a city within a city, it had more than 30,000 people working [at Pratt] on a daily basis in three shifts. The AMC consists of three labs; the Laser Applications Lab (LAL), the Machining Applications Lab (MAL), and the Modeling & Simulation Lab (M&SL). The LAL utilizes state of the art equipment and expert engineers to develop advanced laser materials processing techniques for hole drilling, hole shaping, machining, welding, and coating removal, in addition to additive manufacturing (building up metal surfaces) for the repair of worn or damaged parts.

The M&SL in conjunction with the MAL uses off-the-shelf software and advanced machining techniques to help companies optimize their processes, saving them time and money. The M&SL Optics Lab at the AMC offers non-contact inspection and reverse engineering services. Further, the MS&L provides value stream mapping/discrete factory modeling, supply chain modeling/risk analysis and sustainable manufacturing development.

The AMC provides a unique capability to introduce & discuss a topic such as new tooling technology or programming method and then go to a machine and demonstrate how it works.
